About Huggy
Huggy started cooking in his family’s kitchen back in Jo’burg. The recipes passed down from his grandmothers who in turn taught his mum, who then taught him. Over 3 generations worth of history in every bite.
Years later, working his way through the hospitality industry as a chef, he realised that his love for food was deeply rooted in South African soul food.
He wanted to share the sense of community, togetherness and love of SPICE that you feel when in South Africa.
Before starting Saffa Soul, Huggy travelled Europe to see what real authentic foods from around the world taste like.
From Oysters in Barcelona to the Chips of Amsterdam. He was INSPIRED.
Huggy quite literally puts his Soul into everything he does.
